Fall (Autmn) 2012 musings.........
Colin threw a tight spiral into the the end zone and Jay catches it over
his head with perfect precision- 2 point conversion for Oak Forest
Patriots on the way to a 26-0 win over the Oak forest Saints. How sweet
was that. I stayed calm and composed and did no show much of emotion,
but guess what, deep inside both Lata
and I were jumping for joy. Jay has made some spectacular plays
defensively in the last 4 years of playing flag football, but on the
offense it was his first catch in the end zone. I am sure it was a proud
moment for all his coaches and mentors. How true is the saying- it take
a village to raise a child.
The season started with Jay breaking his pinky finger and sitting out almost 7 weeks, he just played 2 games the entire season and made most of it.
Vinny played with the OF Steelers and had a winning season 5-3, although they lost in the 1st round of play offs. Steelers did good and so did Vinny improving as a player in his second full season. Gavin Gilman gave us a scar when he was drilled to the ground by an opposing player and had a slight concussion. thankfully he is OK.
Both are playing basketball now, continuing with Piano, Saxophone and Taekwondo. Also, it is back to school for the boys, the 1st trimester is almost coming to an end. Both are doing well, straight A's so far. Jay is trying out for the Middle school basketball team, at 5'10" I think he stands a good chance of getting picked but he has to improve his ball handling skills and awareness. But he has made tremendous improvement from last year to this year.
Vinny is in the Drama club at school and playing the part of Zeus in the upcoming performance due in December.
Boys celebrated their 12th and 10th birthday. Vinny had a birthday party at Hollywood Park with Cookie cake and Pizza for his friends. Jay did not want any celebrations but we did have a cake for him. Sachin, Rohan, Karthik, Sonali, Rohun, Shaun, Ethan, Dylan, Addie, Walker, CJ, Christian, Aby, Joe, Ousep, and Jack came to the party and showered Vinny and Jay with their presents and love. Thanks to all the kids and parents who attended. Boys had a blast.
I am headed to my first ever School board conference representing Arbor Park SD as a rookie member. I am sure it will be a tremendous learning experience.
Our friend Matt and Cici's son Robin is getting engaged this weekend. We have known them for the past 15 years and it is a delight to see our boy all grown up and getting ready to start a new phase of his life. God bless you Robin and Ashwin.
On November 18, 2012, Jay with Dad's help :-) of course put together and launched his first Rocket. It was a cool, sunny day with a slight breeze. We drove over to his middle school, place the launch pad on a steady surface and did the countdown 5,4,3,2,1.......ignition.......it was a perfect launch, it went soaring into the sky about 600 feet and came down to a perfect landing ( guided by parachute) about 100 feet from where it was launched. Walker, Vinny, Mom and Dad were in attendance- his little fan base for his first launch. Weather permitting we will launch another one in the next few weeks.
